Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry broke his own record on Thursday night in the match against the Sacramento Kings by hitting his 4000th career 3-point shot. Curry set the record for most 3pt shots made in a career back in December 2021, where he surpassed retired former NBA champion Ray Allen. The closest player to Curry’s record is the LA Clippers guard James Harden at 3,127 3-pointers.
Having made 4000 threes in his 16-year career, 37-year-old Curry is nowhere near done. Curry made his first career 3-pointer on October 30, 2009, at Phoenix. His, as LeBron’s 50,000 career points, is a record that may never be matched. Considering that the closest contender is 800+ threes behind and Curry continues to play and sink more shots, it may be a long time before this particular record is challenged.
The 2-time NBA MVP says he’s not sure how far he can take his record but will continue to push it as far as he can. He also says that it is one of those things that shows just how much the game has changed and that he has been able to be a part of that. Curry holds several other 3-point records, like the two longest streaks for most consecutive regular-season games with at least one made 3-pointer at 268 games and 157 consecutive games in that order.
