What a stylish UCL exit for Aston Villa and Borussia Dortmund. Villa edged past PSG with an impressive 3-2 win, while Dortmund outclassed Barcelona 3-1. However, despite their spirited performances, it wasn’t enough to secure a spot in this year’s Champions League semi-finals.
The aggregate scores told a different story Borussia fell short with a 3-5 result against Barcelona, while Villa bowed out at 4-5 against PSG. With both Barcelona and PSG advancing, all eyes now turn to Arsenal and Inter, who hope to seal their semi-final spot after a dominant first-leg performance.
Aston Villa vs PSG Match
Aston Villa put on a spirited performance in front of a roaring home crowd, beating Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 in a high-octane second leg clash.
Despite trailing early on with goals from Achraf Hakimi (11′) and Nuno Mendes (27′), PSG looked poised to control the game. Mendes’ goal came courtesy of a pinpoint assist from Ousmane Dembélé, showcasing the visitors’ attacking intent.

But Villa had other plans. The comeback started in the 34th minute when Youri Tielemans slotted home after a clever setup from John McGinn. The captain then found the back of the net himself in the 55th minute, assisted by Pau Torres, leveling the tie and reigniting Villa’s hopes.
Just two minutes later, Villa struck again. A brilliant delivery from Marcus Rashford found Ezri Konsa, who made it 3-2, flipping the match on its head.
Despite the heroic comeback and a strong finish, the aggregate score (4-5) meant Villa’s Champions League journey ends here. A stylish exit, but an exit nonetheless.
Borussia Dortmund vs Barcelona
Borussia Dortmund gave everything in the return leg at Signal Iduna Park, defeating Barcelona 3-1 in a gutsy performance. But despite Serhou Guirassy’s stunning hat-trick (11’ pen, 49’, 76’), it wasn’t enough to overturn the deficit, as Barcelona progressed to the UCL semi-finals with a 5-3 aggregate win.
The drama began early, with Guirassy converting from the penalty spot in the 11th minute, injecting belief into the home side. He struck again shortly after halftime (49’) to make it 2-0 and ignite hopes of a miraculous comeback.

But those hopes were dented when Ramy Bensebaini accidentally turned the ball into his own net in the 54th minute, handing Barca a crucial away goal. Guirassy responded again with his third of the night in the 76th minute, but Dortmund simply ran out of time.
It was a passionate, valiant effort from BVB, who bowed out with pride and plenty of fight, but it’s Barcelona who march on to the semi-finals.
